Our client, a global leader in the semiconductor test and inspection markets, is seeking a Technical Product Development Manager for their site based in Melaka.
Your new role
As a Product Development Manager, you will:
- Establish and implement product objectives and priorities under US management.
- Lead assigned products to support product development and design (D&D), application, manufacturing, and technical support.
- Lead cross-functional teams (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Technical Support, Sales) to respond to customer requests and ongoing engagement.
- Ensure project completion from initiation to delivery and inform customers of any deviations.
- Communicate and document all changes/enhancements and release them to customers.
- Interface with upper management to ensure products have adequate resources, communicate status, and coordinate the resolution of technical issues.
- Prepare and maintain customer product configurations, identify potential revenue opportunities, and support sales and marketing in quote preparation.
- Review and approve product cost impacts during the Engineering Change Order (ECO) stage.
- Analyze quality data, review warranty spending, and prioritize quality and warranty improvements.
- Engage escalated customers through the Technical Support team, prioritize technical support, communicate status, and coordinate the resolution of technical issues.
- Review and approve internal and external 8D reports prior to submission to management and customers.
What you'll need to succeed
- Education/Training: BSc./BEng. degree in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering (or equivalent). An MS degree is highly desired.
- Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in product development and sustaining, directly related to complex electro-mechanical systems/precision automated equipment. Proven leadership skills and experience managing cross-functional teams. Experience in a global manufacturing organization and working directly with large industry customers is helpful.
- Skills: Matrix organization management skills, excellent time management and planning skills, strong organizational skills, diplomatic, patient, good listening skills, creative, innovative, and out-of-the-box problem-solving abilities.
- Technical Requirements: Knowledge of semiconductor packages/processes and manufacturing processes, automation, mechatronics, and electro-pneumatic applications. Familiarity with different statistics and quality tools (DFMEA, DOE, and risk assessment).
- Job Conditions/Physical Demands: Domestic and international travel required. May work in a lab environment with constant or intermittent noise. Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer terminal.
