Job Description: Material Planner - Thai speaking
Our client, a leading company in the industry, is seeking a Material Planner to ensure the availability of the right materials at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right cost to support production schedules and meet customer demands. The successful candidate will develop and maintain material plans that consider demand forecasts, production schedules, inventory levels, and supplier lead times. Additionally, they will review material inventories to minimise slow movers and obsolescence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Material Planning Head, the Material Planner will support the client's material planning agenda and drive regional initiatives.
- Maintain strong connections and collaboration with material suppliers to ensure a seamless supply chain.
- Translate the production plan into a mid-to-long-term Material Requirements Plan, ensuring the availability of production materials based on forecasts.
- Ensure accurate ordering of material supplies in terms of quantity and timing while optimising order sizes and minimising obsolescence.
- Maintain time and quantity MRP parameters, aggregate cross-category requirements, and address any MRP exceptions in line with the production plan/finite schedule.
- Collaborate with suppliers and conduct Rough Cut Capacity Planning for all material requirements versus qualified sources of supply to support the production plan cost-effectively.
- Support material inventory analysis by reviewing inventory policies, tracking and managing slow-movers, and monitoring obsolescence.
- Identify material sourcing risks or opportunities and escalate issues to the appropriate internal and external parties.
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in supply chain management, with a focus on material planning or supply planning.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Kinaxis, OMP, o9, or similar.
- Proven track record of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and hands-on experience.
- Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Proficiency in Thai and English.
- Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- Willingness to travel frequently during the first 3–6 months.
